Your Contributions Do Count.

We are into a profession of making a difference and creating more and more success stories.

Your Contributions Do Count.
It doesn’t matter if our efforts get recognized or not; what matters most is that we are able to be a part of someone's success and that sense of contribution itself is an accomplishment.

"Training & Development is a thankless profession!" In my career as a trainer, I came across such remarks quite frequently. To be honest, I must acknowledge the fact that we are into a profession of making a difference and creating more and more success stories. It doesn’t matter if our efforts get recognized or not; what matters most is that we are able to be a part of someone's success and that sense of contribution itself is an accomplishment.

I cherish these heart-warming messages as precious souvenirs

Recently I came across these messages from Akash (an MBA student) who has received his PPO (Pre-Placement Offer) from ITC, and Anjali (a BTech student) who is presently working with TCS. As a T & D professional, I cherish these heart-warming messages as precious souvenirs that remind me the value of my contribution and make me feel grateful to be in this worthy profession.

On one hand, if my job is to mentor students become employable; on the other hand, it's equally gratifying to motivate youngsters for their goals as a life skills coach.
I could sense that he started taking his life goals more seriously, kept working hard and remained truly focused on his aspirations
Ashish, an aspiring bodybuilder, met me when he was going through some troubled times both personally and professionally. I had an hour long session with him to make him understand the importance of his life goals, how to work towards them, and tried to 'ignite the fire' that got a bit blurred overtime.

I cou
ld sense that he started taking his life goals more seriously, kept working hard and remained truly focused on his aspirations and he kept me updated about his progress too. And today, I got the good news of him winning the most coveted title of Mr. Uttarakhand.

Remember, life is to do more and achieve more. Never doubt your potential and keep working hard in the direction of your dreams. Allow your passion to become your profession. Your contributions do count.

Before the New Year Begins...

Since the beginning of my career, I was much inspired to shape the young minds.
Before the New Year Begins...

Today on Dec 31, 2018 I stand determined as "Dip TD"* and before the New Year begins, I intend to remind myself the most inspiring words that touched my heart and moved my soul on the convocation ceremony for the award of “Diploma in Training and Development” by ISTD.
I intend to remind myself the most inspiring words that touched my heart and moved my soul.
Since the beginning of my career, I was much inspired to shape the young minds. After successfully completing my PGDM in HRM, I started my corporate job as an HR professional in a start-up. After a year or so, I realized I was lacking both, drive and zeal. I discussed my aspirations with my mentors and left my well paid corporate job having no solid clues about my future. I started my journey as a lone traveler in the pursuit of something more meaningful and gratifying.

During my self-exploration, I stumbled upon ISTD (Indian Society for Training & Development, the only training body recognized by the MHRD as well as the Ministry of Personnel, Govt. of India) and got myself enrolled without a second thought. With comprehensive studies for 18 exhaustive months along with my family responsibilities, never missing a single contact class while maintaining my job, punctually submitting detailed response sheets other than preparing course-files for my own training sessions, appearing in lengthy examinations and completing a thorough Internship project report, I fulfilled my dream of becoming a "Dip TD"*. On April 12, 2014 while attending the grand convocation ceremony, I came across this inspiring 'Trainers Oath' that reminded me of all my struggles, failures and hardships I went through to become who I aspired to become once, A Trainer!

I was reminded of all my struggles, failures and hardships I went through to become who I aspired to become once, A Trainer!

We can be in any of the professions or with any of the organizations, let’s not forget to find what we truly love and wish to become. Once you find what you are passionate about, don't let any obstacle deter you from your path. Keep marching ahead with all the gusto, make a mark and inspire others to become the best versions of themselves.

"Let's utilize our knowledge for the glory of the society, in the service of the country and mankind at large."

Wish you a very happy new year, 2019!

Jai Hind!

*As per ISTD guidelines, a student is entitled to use suffix Dip-TD, only after they are awarded the Diploma Certificate. A Dip-TD holder from ISTD is qualified to become a senior trainer in varied organisations.

An Open Letter to the Youngsters

Remember, your happiness does count.
An Open Letter to the Youngsters
Dear Youngsters, Congratulations for being the torchbearers of this generation. I know you have great ambitions and want to achieve most in your life. Though there is no set formula for success, here are 10 Sutras (well tried, tested & trusted) that will surely help you on your path to your destination, 1. You are original, unique and already the most beautiful human being. So, there is just no need to copy or emulate anyone else. 2. Set goals. Keep believing that you do possess the potential to pursue your passions. 3. Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it. 4. Develop good communication skills and people skills. Trust me, these two skills will surely take you far in the direction of your dreams. 5. Work hard, dream big and be sincere in any of your endeavors. 6. Always give your best without considering anything hard about the results. In doing so, you will realize the ultimate satisfaction even in your failures knowing that you left no stone unturned. 7. Keep in your mind that any failure is not the opposite of success but it's just a part of a success story. 8. Take good care of your well-being and your happiness. One must not only be mentally strong but physically fit as well. Because only then, you can do as much and as many things you want. 9. Remember, your happiness does count. So do what makes you feel good and if any opportunity given, do some good to others as well. 10. And last but not the least, be a good human being and do empathize with others. Put your best effort to do good to others and goodness will follow you all by itself.

GROW BEAUTIFUL!

Sometimes in life, you have to take some measures & stick to your actions.
GROW BEAUTIFUL!
Encountering people was once my biggest fear and it gradually grew into a phobia. Later in life, I realized that it was just not healthy for my personal growth. And then I followed this self-daring challenge as my religion.

Believe it or not! But I used to be an extremely shy, overly reserved and much introvert person in my childhood. I was always hesitant in meeting new people around. Encountering people became my biggest fear. Somehow, it gradually grew into a kind of phobia. Later in life, I realized that it was just not healthy for my personal growth. And then, I started encouraging myself to greet and meet a new person on daily basis. It was like 'everyday facing your fear head on'. I followed this self-daring challenge as my religion. The changed attitude of mine benefited me not only in forming some very meaningful friendships, but it also offered me an opportunity to develop more confidence and courage in speaking up with the ones whom I didn't know at all.
Today, I count Daniel as one of my 'global friends'.
Daniel & I were complete strangers to each other in the first place and today, I can certainly sense a deeper connection with him. I can count him as one of my 'global friends'. Today, when I met him, we shared our stories and kept talking continuously for more than two hours. As I look back, I recognize that sometimes in life, you have to take some serious measures and stick to your actions. And that's how you proceed in life.

Come Out of Your Shell and Grow Beautiful !

So, Your College Life is Over...

Coming out of college was like treading an unknown path with head held high and walking in heavy boots.
So, Your College Life is Over,
but Your Life is yet to Begin…
[An Open Letter to all the Pass-outs]

I still remember the day when I graduated and came out of college with dreams in my heart and tears in my eyes as I felt excited and emotional at the very same time. It was like treading an unknown path with head held high and walking in heavy boots. I was excited because there was that brand-new-world with all the new challenges as well as possibilities staring into my eyes. And I was emotional because there was this home-like-world with all the old fun as well as friends that I was leaving behind. Literally, I came out of my college with a mixed bag of colorful emotions. And in that bag, there were memories both beautiful and bitter. There were experiences both crucial and crazy. There were friendships both sweet and sour.

To those who are still feeling like walking in heavy boots, let me tell you that life is this way only. I can understand that; but mind you, nobody is going to be forever with you or me. Period! Every new journey starts with the end of the old one. Take lessons from the old one (if any) and march forward! We have different phases of life and meet different people at different stages. Universe always has a significant plan that it makes us meet a variety of people. Some leave behind, some may accompany. No friendship either sweet or sour is a waste of any kind. No experience either crucial or crazy goes in vain. And no memory either beautiful or bitter is unusable. And that’s how you grow and that’s what makes you mature.

Gear up, be a man, and now get ready to all brand new exciting journey. And trust me that it would be way more fun. Being a kid or a boy or a girl is over. Live a real man's life now. Be a man with passion. Be a lady with glory. To achieve and to succeed, play with these three toys. (i) Hard work, (ii) Dedication and (iii) A Zeal to Make A Difference. So, go ahead, and show your haters especially what is in you and who is real you. Let your haters burn with envy and let your friends and family be proud of you.
Make a mark on this Planet. And that's what you got to do. Do your best whatever you do. Remember, no work, no job, no profile is big or small. Your performance must always be the same 200% whatever you do. Believe in yourself, and make us proud. Now is Your Time and Your Time Starts Now!

Best
Gaurav Misra

Passion First

Being passionate for your work is the key.
PASSION FIRST

Since I came to the United States, everyday is a new day of learning for me. And after meeting this guy today, my belief in being passionate for the work at hand just got strengthened a bit more. Really !

To me, he is not less than a genius. As today evening, I was just biking down to a nearby shopping store to buy some daily groceries and something stopped me midway. As I was walking towards the entry gate of the store, I noticed some exceptional artwork on paper lying on the ground. And I just kept gazing on it. It was an extraordinary pencil work on an ordinary sheet. And then I noticed a busy man completely occupied with his pencil on the same ordinary sheet and seeming to convert that ordinary sheet into a marvelous piece of work. I could not stop myself asking this man how he was able to create such magic on paper; He looked at me, smiled and innocently said, "2B Pencil". I was floored by his creativity. And further asked, If he is a trained professional artist? And his reply amazed me. He said,"Never Been to School; It's Just My Passion." And with this, he again looked busy with his 2B Pencil. I asked for a picture of him with his artwork and he simply obliged. I also got a sort of autograph as a parting gift.
And while coming back, one lesson kept hammering in my head, "The qualification may not necessarily make you a genius, pure passion for your work surely does."

I Promise Myself.

Promises to others may break, but a promise to oneself can never.
I Promise Myself.
Wherever you go, you take yourself with you. A promise to oneself is a part of one's own existence.

So, I promise myself…
  1. That I'll never offer an easy win and surrender to tough circumstances.

  2. That I’ll not be a problem-centric person rather become a solution-oriented one.

  3. That I’ll lead my life not to impress others but to inspire and enlighten.

  4. That I’ll always follow what is just, righteous and honorable in nature.

  5. That I’ll find solace and cheer in simple things in life.

  6. That I'll value relationships and admire their dignity from the bottom of my heart.

  7. That I’ll take special care of my words and my deeds so they never offend anyone's self-regard in any form.

  8. That I’ll not repeat the mistakes I did in past and move on with a lesson both in my head and in my heart.

  9. That I’ll not recall regrets time and again with a heavy heart but to find ways to correct.

  10. That I’ll allow my soul to forgive me for anything done wrong to anyone.

  11. That I’ll pray for strength and peace for those whomsoever I ever hurt or gave any pain.

  12. That I’ll never be the cause of anyone’s suffering but will become the reason of someone’s smile.

And above all, I promise myself to remain true to all of my promises. Because I know that promises to others may break, but a promise to oneself can never.
