[Any Body Can succeeD]
Anybody can succeed, and no one needs to wait for luck to knock the door. Here's your ABCD philosophy to greatness!
A few days back, I chanced upon this impressive movie
‘ABCD’ (Any Body Can Dance). This movie really hit me somewhere deep inside. In
particular, this movie focuses on a gang of aimless youngsters who are somehow
blind to their own caliber and are unknown to their ultimate destination. And
finally they got guided by a MasterMind (read: Master Dance Trainer in the
movie, a role amazingly played by Parbhu Deva) and he made them realize their
true potential and of course they were the winners of the grand title of some
mega event because of their superlative performance. If you relate the same
plot to our ‘as-usual’ life, you will get to see for yourself a lot much
similarity. Let’s see how one can relate this ‘ABCD philosophy’ to achieve
greatness in one’s life,
A = Attitude
Matters
Iceberg Theory says that one tenth part of an iceberg is visible while the nine-tenths of an iceberg is out of sight below water. It remains hidden. So is the case with us. Most of the human beings just remain unknown to the tremendous amount of potential sleeping within them. Talking
about the same bunch of carefree and happy-go-lucky young boys and girls as
depicted in the movie, one can easily see the spark in them (as Prabhu Deva
did) but ironically these very gifted teenagers were unsure of their own talent.
That’s what depicts the tragedy of a ‘common man’. He leads his entire life
utilizing just a very small part of his true potential. And finally approaches
the end of his life remaining ‘common’ throughout being unsure, insecure and
underachiever. Even if he tries to move forward, a few initial twists and turns
seem to be enough to kill his spirit. It’s quite critical to know your actual
worth. Believe me, this could be the real breakthrough of your life in the very
first place. And sometimes a simple insight is all it takes.
"It’s quite critical to know your actual worth." |
Here the
clue is to have a positive outlook, a positive self esteem and a positive
approach towards life. This attitude is enough to guide you on your way up to
success. History of mankind is replete with examples of such great souls with
the same ‘never-say-die’ attitude. Bill Gates didn’t seem like a shoe-in for
success after dropping out of Harvard and starting a failed first business with
Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen called ‘Traf-O-Data’. While this early idea
didn’t work, Gates’ later work did, creating the global empire that is Microsoft.
Soichiro Honda was actually turned down by Toyota Motor Corp. for a job as an
engineer, leaving him jobless for quite some time. He started making scooters
of his own. Spurred on by his neighbors, he finally started his own business,
but had to go through several failures before his billion-dollar business really
kicked off. Jack London, a well known American author wasn’t always such a
success. While he would go on to publish popular novels like White Fang and The
Call of The Wild, his first story received 600 rejection slips before finally
being accepted.
B = Be
Yourself
I believe, ‘Be Yourself’ could be the most misinterpreted
or misunderstood phrase. As per my understanding, this has been a rule of thumb for the greatest achievers in the history of mankind. In
nut shell, being yourself directly relates you to any job or a particular work
which suits you best as per your interests, choices and likings. I hope you remember
this dialogue from the same movie, “Jis Kaam Main Mann Nhi, Wo Theek Se Nhi
Hota. Isliye Wo Hi Karna Chahiye, Jisme Man Lagta Ho…Hai Na ?!!” Dale
Carnegie says the same when he talks about success, "Find yourself and be yourself; too many days are wasted
comparing ourselves to others and wishing to be something we aren’t. Remember
there is no one else on earth like you. Life is all about being yourself. Everybody
has his/ her own set of strengths and weaknesses, and it is only when you
accept everything you are-and aren’t. Someone only you can be...Someone only
you can understand...Someone that is unlike everyone else...Someone that
doesn't copy others to look the same...Someone who is extremely
unique...Because you are you...Be Original...No matter what happens, always Be
Yourself-that you will truly succeed."
"Your work is to discover your work." |
This
world would be a better place if more people were doing what they love. Because
we are happier when we discover our passion. Because life is more interesting
when we open our hearts and minds. Because magic happens when we follow our
dreams. Remember, the world needs you to do what you love. It will bring out
the best in you. It's not selfish. It's not crazy. It's your life. To paraphrase
Steve Jobs, “Your time
is limited and your work is going to fill a large part of your life, so don't waste it living someone
else's life… love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking.
Don't settle. Don't be
trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And
most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They
somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Even Gautama
Buddha has emphasized on the same, “Your work is to discover your work and then
with all your heart to give yourself to it. That’s the mark of true success.”
